About me

My name is Mr John Stavrakakis and I am a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney. Currently, I am the primary researcher and developer of the project Lumino.

Research Work

My previous experience includes:

  • Using Chromium as the parallel rendering back-end for remote rendering.
  • Developing and assessing an OpenGL virtual machine that tranparently utilises available grid resources. This was my honours thesis work entitled "A Dynamically Scalable Distributed Rendering System".

  • I have keen a interest in computer graphics, networking and Grid technologies and high performance computing. I also design alternative solutions to these classical problems.
  • I enjoy the serene calm of gardening under the blazing hot sun in Australia
